What’s A Demon Deacon?

Ah, a nice end to an awesome weekend!

Yesterday was a pretty busy and fun-filled day. I went to my first college football game. It was so much fun!

It was Wake Forrest vs NC State so tons of local fans. It was also 85 degrees and super sunny which proved to be a little rough after sitting there for a little while but it felt good.

That picture ^^ was taken before the game started so the seats looked a little empty but it ended up being completely packed!

During the 3rd quarter Torrance and I decided to go cool off out of the sun and wandered around to check out some snacks and such. I went for some Dip N Dots (an old fav that I havent had in forever!) to help me cool off 🙂

It was a somewhat close game towards the end but we (Wake Forrest) ended up pulling off the win! Woo hoo! A quick note on that… I may be silly but their mascot is a “Demon Deacon” what is that?

I have to say the only disappointment for me was that they didnt sell beer at the stadium!? I cried a little (kidding….kinda) and enjoyed a lemonade instead, not the same but still refreshing!

We went to the game with Torrance’s aunt and uncle (and little cousin!) and I was so thankful that his aunt chauffeured us too because I think I would have been stressed out driving in the traffic on he way to the game!

Afterwards we all headed to a little diner for some dinner – the same one I get the Chicken Souvlaki pita from. I wasnt really that hungry so I had a little bit of Torrance’s cheese steak and just a side order of pita chips and Tzatziki.

When we got home I felt somewhat exhausted but we decided we wanted to go get some drinks at a bar right down the street from us that has live music Saturday nights. We ended up just hanging out there for about an hour as we werent really feelin the band that was playing last night and I think we were just a little warn out in general from being in the sun all day! I managed to try a new drink while I was there and I dont even know (and probably dont want to know) what all was in it but she said it included 5 different liquors and some juice and redbull. I dubbed it “the danger juice” because I forget the real name.

——————-

After having danger juice last night, I slept in a little this morning. I actually woke up with a headache (imagine that). I dont typically get headaches or hangovers at all for that matter but I am sure that mix of…whatever was trying to escape. I chugged some major water and cooked up some FiberOne banana pancakes and eggs, just like last weekend!

We spent some of the day just kind of relaxing and doing laundry (ew) and other various chores around the house (including grocery shopping) and a little pool loungin! I got a new floaty for the pool during the week so I was stoked to test it out, I was just like little kid. I actually thought I was going to have to fight a kid at the pool because I saw him eyeballing my floaty while I wasnt using it.

I may have sharing problems…

——————–

We headed back to the house and Torrance said he was just starving. I had planned to cook up some “healthified” breaded chicken but Torrance insisted he was starving right now and didnt want to wait an hour for that so I cooked up some fish instead.

A little bit of cod pan seared with some garlic and black pepper, fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh steamed green beans (say that 10x fast), and some multi grain angel hair with a little butter and garlic and herbs. Doesn’t my plate almost look a little Christmasy with the red and green?

Since I just power vacuumed the house (seriously broke a sweat from running around like a maniac), I am ready to call it a day and veg out in front of the TV.

I am a little sad I didnt get a workout in at all this weekend (unless walking like 10 miles at the football game counts), back to the grind tomorrow!

———————–

Do you get warn out after a day in the sun?

Can someone tell me why they wouldnt have beer at a college football game? Oh, and what is/or what do you think a Demon Deacon is? Im sure I could Google it but this seems more fun 🙂

btw, angel hair + butter = best thing ever! i always eat it when i’m under the weather, but i should really eat it more often 🙂

    • I know! Back to the simple and delicious stuff! Torrance even said that – “why don’t we have this more?”

  2. No beer at college football games is pretty standard. Most college students are, afterall, under 21. I don’t know how it is in other parts of the country, but in the south the girls always wear dresses to the games so ziplock bags full of whiskey can easily be strapped around your thigh. It’s a common occurrence at Georgia games.

    • Yeah that’s a good point about them being under 21. Forgot about that! The more i think about it, It kind of makes sense why they wouldnt actually.

  3. Yep – no beer at College Stadiums, part of the No Alcohol on campus thing (ahem) yah – you betcha. Do you know anything about football? Please share – I went to my 13yo sons game today and am lost, lost, lost! What herbs on that pasta? The plate does look festive!
