Chocolate Chip Yogurt Muffins

It’s true, I was absent this weekend – and it was nice.

I had a completely lazy but productive weekend over all.

The most exciting part  was that we bought (some) furniture!! My sofa and recliner will be delivered tonight! Pictures to come! We also decided how we are going to furnish/decorate the rest of the living room, dining room, and sunroom. I can’t wait.


Last night, I decided to whip up some muffins. They are the chocolate chip muffins I have made before but I have been tweaking them a little bit and finally got the recipe right. The original recipe is from Emily at the Sugar Plum Blog. I love it because it doesnt use any butter but they are so moist and flavorful!

Chocolate Chip Yogurt Muffins

Makes 12 muffins
Prep time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 20-25 minutes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line 12 muffins cups with paper liners.


  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 oz lowfat vanilla Chobani (or other Greek yogurt)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil (I use canola)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup  chocolate chips (I use milk chocolate and a few white chocolate chips as well)


  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, yogurt and oil until really well combined
  •  Whisk in sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until well combined
  • Stir in flour and chocolate chips until just combined
  • Divide batter into muffin cups using a large spoon and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown


Back to the grind today! I’m kind of  happy to have the routine after the super lazy weekend – I didnt really even keep track of time all weekend, it was kind of nice!

When I walked the dog this morning it was very crisp out – but felt refreshing. We also saw some of these which Kona of course wanted to attack.

I did my usual slow Monday morning get-ready routine and headed off to work. Since I havent gone grocery shopping for the week yet (I know, crazy I didnt go this weekend huh?!) I ran to the grocery store next to my work and grabbed a banana amd one of their delicious apple bran muffins from their bakery. I love them!

    I love using yogurt in baking 🙂 I feel like it automatically makes everything so much healthier.

    Going along with the whole pumpkin theme thats consuming the blog world, I would have to say that it’s my favorite muffin flavor

    Yorgurt is such a great tool for baking! Not only does it amp up the nutrition and reduce the calories… it makes everything so MOIST! YUM! Do you freeze the extras??

    I’m an old lady at heart so my favorite muffin flavors are raisin bran for sure and corn comes in at a close second!

  3. Yum I actually love raisins in muffins as well! No need to freeze it, They will all be gone tonight since it includes chocolate. I had one last night and he had 3 and then he grabbed the rest to eat for breakfast and in his lunch today. Gross huh?! haha!

    Okay, now your post has me craving MUFFINS today, they look great!
    i’m gonna say i really have a tie between pumpkin muffins and banana bread muffins. both are delicious 🙂

    My weekend went by ridiculously fast, but it was a good one! Got to spend time with my friends and family and had alot of food, so i really cant ask for anything better.
