Coffee, Push Ups, & TRX Straps

Yesterday at lunch I finally went and bought a coffee machine (and makins’). Torrance and I have been spending a fortune at Starbucks because we both have a horrible coffee habit, so I figured this would save us some money.

I have never really been a big “regular” coffee drinker (usually just espresso) but I decided I will just get used to it for the sake of our bank account.

Torrance likes the Dunkin Donuts regular blend so I picked us up some of that and my creamer of choice.

I am sipping on it this morning and I cant say it is wonderfully delicious… maybe I need to experiment with different blends/types of coffee (Im open to suggestions!)

Oh, and whoever came up with the idea for the timers on coffee machines to be able to set it to automatically brew at a certain time, is a genius.

And alongside that is the most picture perfect PB banana sandwich I have ever made.

Lovely isnt it?

And in case you are wondering, I havent seen the husky on the neighbors porch since yesterday at lunch. I didnt check to see if the poop was cleaned up though (it was dark still this morning when I thought about it, so couldnt see).

So last night at fitness class I definitely felt like I missed class for a week and a half… it was rough.

We did some pretty good moves though – We had a little bigger group last night than usual – there were 13 of us, where there is usually between 6 and 10 so we had a few extra stations than we normally do. I love how organized and prepared our trainer is though – even though he doesnt always know how many to expect he is always seamlessly prepared in case there is a larger (or smaller) group.

I have a seen a lot of people around the blogs talking about TRX workouts. At every class, we always have at least one station/move that involves the TRX straps, and the majority of the time, I think it is usually one of the hardest stations for me. Last night with the straps we did a squat jump with the straps and on the jump up we pulled ourselves up with the straps and tucked our knees. I liked it because it was challenging but I could only do 2 or 3 in a row without pausing in between reps.

We also did spiderman push ups last night… even regular push ups are not my forte so I struggled with this one too.

I definitely left class feeling like I got a really good workout, and I will be back tonight for more 😉

And when I returned home, I was happy to hear that Torrance was so hungry that he had already eaten some left overs for dinner so I didnt even need to cook. I ate some raisin bran and an orange for dinner (I’m so wild).

Have a good day!

Any suggestions for coffee I should try? What kind is your favorite?

Do you like push ups? And have you ever done any workouts with TRX straps?

  1. I am the WORST at push-ups. All the students in my P.E. class last year tried to help me. I don’t know WHAT it is!! I did the Insanity program for a long time and that included a lot of push-ups. I just had to do my best. I like that spider push-up variation. I’ve done it just without even the push-up element and it’s still a tough move for me. I need to work that poor upper body!!

    • I know, that is what I was thinking – it was hard enough moving my legs around let alone add in the actual pushing motion haha!

  2. hahaha, i cant do pushups to save my life…something I will need to work towards, most def.

I ALSO started making my own coffee months ago and its such a money saver..i was spending a fortune at starbucks everyday for my coffee (seriously, 4 bucks a day?! omaiga!) Now I buy a bag from them every couple of weeks and use a french press to brew it ( i love it so much more then a regular coffee machine)…i tend to gravitate towards their bold flavors, so think Komodo Dragon blend or whatever their new “special” blend might be (right now i’m into their special anniversary blend)…i then buy skinny caramel macchiato creamer (i have to double check the brand, but its a popular one) and its really good together! i need to find one of these pumpkin blends before the season runs out! 😦

    • Ooo I saw Dunkin has a pumpkin blend I may want to try. And I have rtied that skinny carmel machiatto flavor you speak of, it was good!
Hmm maybe I should test out a french press. I suppose I will need to expiriment. And I plan to work on those damn push ups as well… good luck to us!! haha

  3. Hi! I am glad you visited my blog and saw my Spiderman Push-ups! They are indeed challenging! I thought I would pass along my 2-cents regarding coffee. I used to be a big time coffee drinker… I even called myself a “coffee-snob” having lived in Italy and got so used to drinking cappuccino!! That was until I found Spark! Spark costs anywhere from .74-$1.24 a serving compared to a Starbucks at .99-$3.50 a serving and gets a ZERO in the sugar department.
Spark is a unique multi-nutrient system that’s designed to provide nutritionally advanced, long-lasting energy and enhanced mental focus. Its 21 vitamins, minerals and nutrients work synergistically to give you healthy, balanced energy without making you jittery like other caffeinated beverages.
Spark’s unique combination of ingredients gives you fast-acting energy and B-vitamins enhance your body’s natural energy-sustaining processes.
For mental focus and clarity, the neuroactive amino acids in Spark help sharpen your mental focus and alertness by supporting your brain’s ability to efficiently transmit messages within the nervous system. With five refreshing flavors and only 45 calories per serving, Spark gives you a lift that lasts for hours.
You can read more about it here:
Do I ever have coffee? Sure! Every once in a while…but my daily mode of operation is to start everyday with a Spark!!

  4. Push ups are the bane of my existence…I can’t do them for the life of me!

My husband loves TRX and we have a TRX class at my gym that I go to sometimes…I love it and can get such a great strength workout from it. Some moves on it can really get your heart rate up too like mountain climbers, knee tucks, and pikes.

Bummer about that creamer! It looks and sounds delish, but I find sometimes that the most yummiest sounding creamers end up being blah tasting. I just use Folgers coffee and am currently loving Vanilla Caramel creamer 🙂

  5. i’ve always been a lover of the sugar free hazelnut! 🙂 it’s so yummy and you should try it if you haven’t already!!

and I haven’t used the TRX straps yet, but I want to! They look like a really challenging workout
