Shopping Time

What a busy weekend this has been!

I have to be honest, it has mostly been filled with shopping.

As you know, it has been on my to-do list for a while to buy some house decor because our walls are looking seriously empty (still). I have been on the hunt for the perfect (fairly large) picture to go over the fireplace. I figured once I found that I could buy accents to work around that since it is sort of the focal point of the living room.

I went out to pursue that mission yesterday with the thought in my mind that I still wanted to do turquoise and brown (to match my chocolate couches) in my living room but it seemed everywhere I turned I was drawn to the reds and oranges I originally wanted.

Well, yesterday I finally found that perfect picture at Bed Bath & Beyond! By the way, this was my first little out and about shopping stint since we have been here in NC and I have to say whoever decided to put a Target, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Kohl’s in one parking lot together was a genius.

I will share the picture I found later once it is hung 😉 I also picked up a few small things and accent pieces from Pier 1. My favorite being this:

Its just one of those random things that stood out to me and I liked. There was seriously so many amazing things at Pier 1 (like always) but I was trying to stay focused and not spend too much, which would definitely be easy to do in that place….. dont even get me started on Bed Bath & Beyond, it is heaven.

After hours of looking around I finally got sick of shopping and I came home feeling pretty successful with a few things that will help make our house finally more home-y feeling (okay and I may have picked up some new clothes at Kohl’s too 🙂 )

I also found a cute welcome mat to spice the outside up a little – in my opinion a welcome mat is a must!

When I got home, I was craving some comfort food so I cooked up a grilled cheese with cheddar and provolone and some tomato soup on the side. I added some cooked rotini noodles and basil to my tomato soup and it was delicious! With the noodles it sort of reminded me of a grown-up version of speghettios (I never really was a fan of spaghettios though!)

I’m off to do some baking – I’ll share the recipe tomorrow. I also have a good post in th works about kitchen gadgets I am currently loving!

Baking, wine, and catching up on my TiVo’d shows… ideal Sunday night? I think so.

Do you like tomato soup? If you do, do you like to eat it with grilled cheese?

What color schemes do you have in your house?

Pier 1 is definitely a dangerous place for me too! I love your new items and can’t wait to see your picture for above the fireplace.
