Pulled A Muscle Running In Heels & Uncravings

Last night after work. I almost died.

Okay, not really. At all.

After work I closed everything up and walked across the parking lot (its not big) to my truck. It was getting dark, no biggy since I am not afraid of the dark…. okay I am.

When I was about halfway across, a bunch of bushes were moving and I got a little creeped out…

Scene of the crime

Out pops… a deer.

It scared the hell out of me and I booked it (in my heels and all) to my truck and hurredly unlocked the door and hopped in faster than lightning. After I was safe from Bambi the beast, I laughed at myself since it was just a little deer, that also had run away probably because it got spooked from all my commotion.

Phew, after I was done laughing at myself, I realized I had forgotten something in the office, so I pulled my truck right over there in front of the door (ya know, so I didnt have to be afraid again…) and when I hopped out I realized I had obviously pulled a muscle (my groin?) in the process.

I quietly whined all the way up our 3 flights of stairs to the apartment and realized I probably should not go to fitness class because of it. Sad! I just chilled out and took it easy the rest of the night, and am happy to report it feels better for the most part today so it must have been really minor. Moral of story:

Take your heels off before you run away from something.

Everyone (meaning my family) is now making fun of me when I tell them this because they say “you have lived in the wilderness of Alaska your whole life and you were terrified of a deer?”

Moving on!

Yesterday I had a really bazaar lunch, and I probably wont have it again to be honest. I cooked up a chicken sausage, cut it in half, and then put it on a wheat tortilla with some sliced fresh mozzarella (my favorite!), tomato, and a little mustard.

It was ok… Though it sounded like a good idea t the time, the fresh mozzarella and chicken wasnt really a good mix.

I did get something new at the grocery store this week though. Since I cant eat fresh strawberries (allergic) I got these fresh frozen ones to try and see if they bothered me at all which I was so relieved they did not, and they were the highlight of my lunch for sure.

They come in convenient little cups also with no additives. So good when they thaw out just a tiny bit!

I also ate these as a snack later on, and am obsessed….

Those are so perfect to satisfy a craving for a sweet snack! Speaking of cravings… I think we need to talk about them a little.

You know when you get an intense craving for something, and when that craving is fulfilled it feels like all is right in the world and it may possibly be the most marvelous thing that has ever happened to you, ever?

Or if you don’t satisfy that craving and you try to eat 10 other things to try to satisfy it, and then you give in anyway and eat what you were craving, and should have just gone that route in the first place?

Ahh….I think we all know those feelings.

But do you ever get un-cravings? Now dont get me wrong, I eat a lot of stuff in spurts (i.e. I had Nutella everyday for like 3 months straight and then didnt eat it again for a year). Or right now I am on a Raisin Bran kick that started up about 2 weeks ago, but before that, it had been months since I last had it.

I guess sometimes we just love it so much and then are satisfied enough to leave it alone for a while. Or get bored maybe? Who knows, I am not a food psychologist.

BUT what I do know, is that something very strange is going on with me. Many of the things I have been in love with forever (I’m talking years, or like, my whole life) I suddenly have no interest in. I used to eat fish every week for like the last 2 years. And lately, it just hasnt really sounded good. At all. Or J & PB (<—- woah throwback, one of my first posts!) sandwiches. So I ask you…

‘What up with that?!’

It is almost annoying in a sense, some of the stuff that has been a delicious “go to” item for me is no longer interesting me. I know our taste buds change, but I am hoping this is a short lived funk I am going through and I want everything to go back to normal. Now.+

Okay, okay, thats enough for now – see you guys later!

(PS – dont worry I am still planning on posting the banana chocolate chip muffin recipe! later on!)

  • Have you ever had any silly wildlife encounters?
  • When was the last time you pulled a muscle?
  • Do you, or have you ever gotten un-cravings? If so, did it go back to normal?

  2. hahaha…if it was me running in heels, i can guarantee you that my injury wouldve been me completely faceplanting, im a total klutz 🙂

my tastes have changed alot especially over the past couple of years—i feel your pain/confusion! i used to never be able to eat raw onion, egg salad, sweet potatoes and now I really enjoy them! ok not so much raw onion…but i can actually eat raw onion without gagging which is a big step for me from the past. on the other side, i used to be obsessed with spinach dip and dill and now it makes me gag. whaattttt?

  3. I definitely go through phases with oatmeal. I ate it SO much in college that I got sick of it, then I loved it again, and so on. I do the same thing with certain cereals … but things like chocolate, I’ll never get sick of! 😉

  4. Deer freak me out too. I think it’s from some movie where a hoard of them attach people (maybe the Ring 2?) either way. I don’t trust them.
And I pulled a muscle tonight at the gym when I climbed on the stair climber. Maybe I should have taken that as a sign to skip it…

  5. hahaha. A deer.
One time I was running and out of nowhere a bunny hopped in front of me and I screamed and had a little panic attack. But then I realized it was just a cute little bunny and all was well 🙂

  6. I thought that little sandwich you made with the chicken sausage looked good. Although I’ve been craving meat, cheese, and bread lately so that looked perfect!

    • It sounded and looked so good but it just didn’t taste right! I think it was the mix with the fresh mozzy and chic sausage was a weird texture thing.
