Festival of Lights

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas!

Ours was definitely amazing!

We started out with celebrating last night at Torrance’s uncles and did gifts and dinner with them. Kona even got to join the festivities.

She loves opening presents, especially if there is a bone inside.

We woke up this morning and did the usual coffee, stockings, presents, and breakfast. I didnt make anything special for breakfast… HOWEVER, I did use my new pots and pans to make it 😉 (pictures later!) Love them. I forgot how great it is to have a nice set of cookware.

I also got my most anticipated present….

A new camera! It is a Canon Powershot, ELPH (how appropriate for Xmas) 310 HS. I didnt ask for a particular camera, rather something small, sleek, and good quality pictures and video with optional manual settings. I do prefer Canon’s though. The camera I would really like is a little spendy…someday! I am perfectly content and am absolutely loving this camera though! The best thing about it in particular is it has a large, wide lens.

And, the thing I could hardly wait for… to give Torrance his “big” present!! He asked for a lot of smaller stuff mostly for his dirt bike, but I pretty much had something in particular in mind for a while. I did get him a few smaller things on his wishlist also, and made him hold out for this one last.

Yep, an iPad2! I even wrapped it in a giant box to throw him off, I think he was pretty surprised. He has wanted one for a while. He dislikes laptops so he figured having something like that would be awesome, plus we are Apple lovers around here 😉 Okay…. I have a Dell laptop, but it was simply because I practically got it for free. I am dreaming of a MacBook and see one in my future soon (hopefully!).

I have more details about this tomorrow, and really the point of the post today is to share something exciting we did tonight.

There is an absolutely amazing array of Christmas lights here in our community that draws a ridiculous amount of people, even from surrounding states. It is at a popular park (Tanglewood) thus appropriately named the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. We pass by a lot and saw traffic backed up for miles to get in so we thought we would maybe check it out tonight.

It was also a good opportunity for me to test out my new camera and play with some settings to get some pictures. I took a ridiculous amount, but since I was playing around with settings a lot, there were many that did not turn out. Here are some of the best.

Some of these were so, so massive! That last one (the reindeer) was so huge I had to majorly zoom out to get the whole thing! It was pretty cool though. It felt like it went on forever and at one point we considered planning an escape, but it finally came to an end (we were in there a little short of 2 hours I think) but it was definitely something I wont forget.

There was also an amazing tunnel of lights that moved back and forth, I cant even explain it but it was guilty of giving my chauffeur (aka Torrance) motion sickness.

We finally made it home and we are pretty worn out from the eventful day (aka, all the food we ate).

I hope everyone had a great Christmas/holiday! Stay tuned for a fun recap tomorrow!

  • Do you enjoy Christmas lights?
  • If you have a pet, do you get it gifts?

That’s the camera I have! Actually I think yours is even better because I have the Elph 100 HS. Looks like you, Kona, and Torrence made out very nicely 😀

Glad to see you had great Christmas, Andrea!

  2. I have that camera too! I think like Brittany I have a older version of it but let me tell you that it is SO amazing. I have zero camera skills and it is so easy to use and will make you look like a pro 🙂 I’m so happy that the three of you had a great Christmas; just a little piece of advice; stake your claim on that iPad, there are some seriously addicting games on that sucker (like plants v. zombies, zombieville 2…noticing a trend?!) and I find myself using Paul’s way more than he does 🙂

  4. So many people got new cameras!! Very exciting! 🙂 I love seeing good Christmas lights, but there aren’t many good houses in our area! Of course, I can’t really talk, because we didn’t have any outside lights up! 😉
