My Holiday Favorites
I figured I would do my Christmas recap in the form of some of my favorite parts.
Favorite Christmas decoration this year:
I loved the red snowflakes….
But I was also lovin the swizzle sticks…
Okay the swizzle sticks were sort of more of an accessory than an ornament, but whatever.
Favorite present I gave:
Torrance’s iPad2. I was so excited for him to open it! Plus… it is working out because he lets me use it and now I am definitely wanting one as well 😉 I’m so lucky he shares (sometimes…. if I ask nicely).
I also enjoyed giving Kona her new harness (with matching leash of course). Less pulling when I walk her 😉
She is obviously equally thrilled.
Favorite gift I received:
I loved them all and definitely got spoiled this year, but I am 100% lovin my new camera…
I am also adoring my new pots and pans!
Favorite stocking stuffer:
I got some good ones, but this one really stood out!
Favorite dish/thing I ate:
Apple cider green beans!
They are so easy to make and taste festive and a little different than the norm!
All I did was steam some green beans like regular (I steamed mine in the microwave) and then in a medium saucepan I used 1 packet of powdered apple cider mix, 1 tbsp brown sugar, and then melted about 2 tbsp of butter and let simmer until butter was slightly bubbling and all powder and sugar was dissolved.add green beans, sprinkle cinnamon, stir, cover, and let simmer about 5 minutes.
Favorite holiday cocktail:
(In my new, festive Christmas wine glass Torrance’s aunt got me, with matching serving platter!)
Vodka, cranberry juice, and sparkling cider. Mmm….
Favorite activity this year:
Festival of lights! (<—–more pictures and details in yesterday’s post!)
We truly had an amazing Christmas this year, and it was really on the relaxing side. We did miss our families, and friends back in Alaska too of course, but luckily we were able to talk to most everyone yesterday which was great! Now if we could only get them all on FaceTime or Skype…. 😉
We spent today doing a little relaxing….okay I actually spent some of the morning reorganizing my kitchen cabinets and moving them around to make room for my new pots and pans and just have more cabinet space all around. Torrance had to do a little work from home (well, from his uncles house) so I went over and helped with that a little.
I have quite the mess to deal with this week (I will get to it….sometime) and also I have some grocery shopping to catch up on!
I really dont even want to think about eating because I ate so much the last couple of days (no regrets!) but I must get back to some physical activity…. I didnt manage to fit in any runs or anything this weekend, which really is okay – but back to training tomorrow!
- What were some of your Christmas/holiday favorites?
- If you dont /didnt celebrate, what were some of your good eats from over the weekend?
