Myrtle Beach & Jell-O Shots
We made it back from Myrtle Beach this afternoon! We checked out and left the hotel at about 9 and arrived back at the apartment around 1 with welcome
arms licks from Kona!
We then threw our bags down and proceeded to nap, because last night ended up being a late one!
Once I managed to leave the office Friday afternoon, we hit the road and ended up arriving at the hotel around 9pm on Friday night. Basically prime time to get settled in and relax for a bit.
We got up pretty early Saturday to head down and get some breakfast before the guys headed off to do work stuff all morning/afternoon and then we (Torrance’s aunt and I) went off to the Outlets nearby to do some shopping!
I was on a major mission to get some new shirts, which I did but I for some reason had really good luck with pants – which if you are like me is a huge success because I hate pants shopping and I rarely put on a pair that fits perfectly, so I’m not complaining!
Let’s just say that when I left New York & Co I had a bag full of goodies 😉
We shopped for a good 4 hours before we headed off to have a quick lunch and then meet the guys back at the hotel when they were done with work meetings. Since we had some time to kill before getting ready for dinner, it gave us a good opportunity to check out the hotel a little more and take a walk on the beach!
We stayed at the Marriott at Grand Dunes and it was a great hotel! I absolutely loved their pool!
It was a gigantic pool with the ocean right past it! Though we didnt swim in it because for one it was quite windy out, and we were told the pool isnt heated and was currently about the same temperature as the ocean: 54 degrees! That is a little chilly for my liking 😉
Yes I made Torrance stand out there for a picture. Ha!
We walked the beach for a bit, which with the wind it was a little chilly but so pretty just to see the water and sand.
Best hair award goes to me, as usual.
We even laid in the hammocks for a while!
This is when my vow to take lots of pictures started to crumble a little because we were rushing around to get ready and I forgot to take a picture of us when we were dressed up for the formal dinner! Dangit!
We headed down at around 6 for a 30 minute cocktail and hors devours they put on before heading in for dinner, awards, and a show. There were about 400 people or so with the company there so it was quite the production.
We were served a nice salad and then the main entrée came out which was filet, shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Everything was spot on and completely delicious!
After dinner (and a chocolate cheesecake dessert!) is when things got pretty interesting. Many drinks were consumed while the company announced awards.
Then there was an appearance from Dolly Parton…
Steve Perry from Journey…
Oh and dont forget Janice Joplin (with a very intoxicated fellow spouse of a company employee who wanted to sing along)…
This was a girl and guy duo of voice impressionists that the company hired for entertainment for the night, and they were amazing! They both had fantastic voices and were so talented because they truly sounded (and acted the character well) of so many different performers!
Some of the others they did that are not pictured included: Elton John, Willy Nelson, Celine Dion, Cher, Bet Midler, Jon Denver (which was really good!), Rod Stewart, and even Lady Gaga.
After this, is when things got even more interesting because from there, a group of us including some people Torrance and his uncle know already because they work near them and see them often, decided to take things to Broadway at the Beach, which is a collection of shops and bars, etc. – on the beach of course!
We ended up at a Karaoke bar… and many of these were consumed:
Yes that is a Jell-o shot in a giant plastic syringe. I havent decided if that is genius or disgusting?
And then what happened next I am not proud of….
We (the 5 women) sang Karaoke. Anytime that I hear Shania Twain’s “Man, I feel like a woman!” I may cringe. I have decided to not include any pictures of this 😉
After that we headed out and went to another bar across the way and did some dancing for a bit before going back to the hotel to turn in for the night so we could at least get a couple of hours of sleep!
But not before a few last group photos in the hotel lobby!
More proof that women are just more organized than men 😉
The night and overall weekend ended up being a ton of fun and I hope that Torrance and I can head down there on a weekend trip over the summer (and hopefully stay at the same hotel!) so we ca enjoy the beach!
We napped upon our return after only getting a few hours of sleep and finally managed to unpack! I am considering making a late night grocery store run to stock up for the week so I dont have to do it tomorrow…we will see how I feel in about 15 minutes.
Hope you all had a fun filled weekend as well!
