A ‘Shaky’ Workout
Morning from me and my breakfast (or my breakfast and I?)
Look at that pile of deliciousness (sorry crappy lighting and phone pic!)
Thank you guys for all your comments yesterday in regards to some healthy food substitutes! The applesauce in place of oil while baking is a good one and I pretty much never remember to do that (unless the recipe I’m reading from specifically says it) and I need to try to incorporate that more because I always have applesauce on hand!
I realize I am horrible about sharing my lunch everyday. I will try to be a little better about it… just for you, even though it is usually quite uneventful 😉
Yesterday I actually wrapped up a left over enchilada. That is one of the things that, to me, is almost better left over!
I also included some chips and salsa and a banana to go with.
Salsa is one of my favorite healthy snacks! I picked this one up last week:
(Check out the lurker in the background)
It was really good, but the medium was almost a little too hot for me (I am a huge wuss when it comes to spicy!) but the ingredient list is so simple.
Once this one is gone there is a nice blacbean and corn one I have my eye on!
Training last night was a shaky one, meaning we did a lot of difficult moves that had my muscles shaking a little!
We did a lot of upper body last night with the hardest move being push ups using the TRX straps. We have done this before with our feet in the straps, or also at an incline but that was nothin’ compared to this!
Basically in push up position (with straps hanging almost to ground) You grip them with your body basically parallel to the ground and do a push up. Or that is the theory at least….
I am horrible at push ups anyway, but I am getting better at doing more and more but I could hardly do 3 of these in a row! He said that if they were too difficult we could just hold the position (arms straight) which I ended up doing most of the time at the station. Which that still wasn’t any joke, I was shaking like crazy!
We also did figure 8’s with the medicine ball out in front of us, rope climbs, and of course much more including a stability ball “saw” move which was an awesome core move! In a stance like this: you use your abs to move the ball forward and back where your forearms sit. This was another one I was a little shaky on!
We did 5 rounds last night, the first round was 45 seconds and the other four were 30 seconds at each station. I prefer them when they are a little shorter like that. And of course, no matter what – I am almost always a shweaty mess at the end.
When I got home, dinner consisted of some sauteed shrimp with garlic and pepper, some parmesan noodles, steamed green beans, and a little bit of tomato.
The balsamic vinaigrette ran onto some of my shrimp on accident and it was actually delicious like that… I may try marinating them in it next time. Is that one of the benefits of your food touching on your plate? New discoveries? Ha!
I am still on the hunt for an awesome adult sectional plate, in case you are wondering.
I will most likely try to make it to training again tonight. I need to kick it up a little bit on my running as well as I only got to run twice last week!
Have a fun-filled day!
- Do you like salsa? What kind do you like (hot, garlic, mild, etc)?
- What is a favorite breakfast of yours lately?
