Good Eats & I Can Finally Do Laundry
I will speed through yesterday’s festivities real quick….
Panera for lunch (it’s been a while!)
Half a turkey sandwich andsome chicken noodle soup! I forgot to ask for wheat bread on the sandwich though and whatever kind of bread they put it on automatically was sort of funky to me, but good nonetheless (it is still Panera).
I did head off to training last night which was marvelous. Friday’s are quite the popular day surprisingly! It was the biggest group I have been part of (16 people) and it was actually really fun because of the added energy. Since there was a larger group of us, some of us were partnered up to have 2 at a station.
We did some really hard bicep curls (in the form of an uppercut type motion), a few different variations of squats, lunges, an inclined pushup, wall sits with an overhead medicine ball chop, and planks. It was simple, sweaty, and good!
And when I got home it was time for dinner of course! I cooked up some salmon (it has been forever), steamed broccoli, a wheat roll, and roasted baby red potatoes. I was clearly wanting some carbs!
I cooked the salmon using my quick method – in a pan over medium heat for about 4 minutes per side with a little olive oil, garlic powder, and black pepper.
The potatoes I washed, halved, and coated with olive oil, black pepper, and garlic powder and roasted in a 425F oven for about 30 minutes (I ended up adding a little Italian dressing to the potatoes afterwards for extra flavor).
And the broccoli was steamed using a Ziploc Steamer bag. I used to always use these things but my grocery store here never had them until recently! These things are amazing and work so well!
Throw that baby in the microwave for about 5 minutes (or less/more depending on what you are steaming) and you have perfectly steamed broccoli everytime!
Okay, so today didn’t go exactly how we had planned… but that is okay. Because?…
We got a washer and dryer!
I’m not gonna lie though – when we were in that appliance store, I did feel a little bit like we were going to get ambushed and robbed (kidding…. kinda). It was a little sketchy.
Oh well. I’m all about a bargain and we got this matching set (the dryer is a little scratched) for $400 so I was happy.
Backing up, our plan was to eat some breakfast, go look at washers and dryers, and then go work at Torrance’s uncles house.
Well, we did go to breakfast at Cracker Barrel as planned.
I got the “eggs in a basket” with wheat toast, turkey sausage, and fried apples (my fav).
Torrance of course got some feast that includes everything on their menu (barf).
We then headed off to the creepy appliance store where it took us about 5 minutes to pick out what we wanted. And to our surprise, they said they would deliver it in an hour! Nice!
On our way home… we had some truck problems. Luckily Torrance is a genius and pretty much figured out what it was right away and did a little research once we got home on how/what we (ok who am I kidding? what he) needed to do to fix it.
So once the appliance people came and delivered our goods and expressed their complete enthusiasm of us living on the 3rd (and top) floor, we headed down the street to the parts store to get what we needed to fix the truck. We opted to postpone our plans to work at his uncles house until tomorrow since it ended up being kinda late by the time all of this was done (partly thanks to sleeping in! Which felt wonderful by the way).
We took the opportunity to get some other errands done along with other stuff around the house (i.e. 4984503 loads of laundry).
I’m getting ready to cook us some awesome healthified burgers for dinner and do a little relaxing! Have a great night!
(PS…. I must get a run in tomorrow to stay on track because it definitely did not happen today)
- What was/is on your agenda for the weekend?
- Do you ever go out to breakfast? Do you have a favorite place?
There is this cool little local diner we used to like for breakfast on the weekends but the last few times we had gone there the food and service were pretty bad sadly!
