Forgot The Veggies & Rock Paper Scissors Stand Off

Morning!

Thank you guys so much for all your comments and snack suggestions on yesterday’s post! I will definitely be picking up a few extra things next time at the grocery store like vitatops, cottage cheese, grape tomatoes, granola bars, popcorn, and some other suggestions!

Speaking of snacks, I snacked quite a bit yesterday. I had one of those weird lunch days where I just wasnt sure what I wanted so I ended up making an egg sandwich on a wheat sandwich thin with cheddar and turkey.

That looks fake to me for some reason, like rubber, but it was actually really good for lunch! I enjoyed it with an orange …..and then a bunch of humus and pita chips followed later in the afternoon 🙂

For dinner we decided we would go check out the new restaurant that opened down the street from us. It is a little bit “nicer” restaurant for the area, called “2520.” They offer quite a few things including seafood, steaks, pastas, and unique burgers.

I had heard their sweet potato fries were really good but I decided I really felt like steak, especially since their menu proclaimed “the best cuts of natural beef.” Hmm, so when I get steak I go all out  and decided to get the filet.

The entrée came with bread and a salad of course…

I like that they bring a small serving of bread (one roll for each person)… it helps in the fact that I wont shove my face with bread before hand 😉

When our dinner arrived I realized that I was so excited about the mashed sweet potatoes that I didnt realize it only came with one side and that I should have made that side some veggies instead because I realized I hadnt had any all day besides that salad!  Oops…

It also automatically comes with those fried onion ribbons apparently, sort of like garnish. I’m not a fan of onion rings or fried things really, so I pushed mine off to the side. Oh, and that little thing in the corner is a scallop I stole from Torrance’s plate to try!

This was honestly the best steak I have had in a really long time. It was perfect, and the sweet potatoes… well they were excellent too – they had a touch of cinnamon and brown sugar in them which gave them the perfect flavor.

It was a success and we will definitely be back!

When we left the restaurant, we argued over who had to let Kona out when we got home because it was raining and gross outside and we were both full and lazy feeling. So to settle it we decided to do the adult thing: play rock, paper, scissors to settle it once and for all. 

Here is a hint that you have been together so long and know each other too well: It is impossible to do the “best 2 out of 3” in rock, paper, scissors or to make serious decisions using this method because no one can ever win. And what I mean by that is, we always choose the same exact thing. It goes on forever…both paper, both rock, both scissors – on and on.

Anyway, somehow I lost eventually.

For breakfast today I am enjoying an almond butter, banana, and cinnamon sandwich with some applesauce and lots-o coffee.

When you are getting ready in the morning does your dog or pet (if you have one) stare at you from your bed with a “haha you have to go to work and I get to lay here all day” look in their eyes?

I think she secretly looks forward to when I leave everyday so that she can change the channel to watch Jersey Shore.

Okay I’m out for now! I will be eating lots of veggies today to make up for their absence yesterday, and will be heading to training tonight for sure, I have a semi-steak hangover (aka sitting in my stomach like a rock) so I need an intense workout. And I also need some Advil because my head is killing me…..that is most likely more from all the wine though 😉

  • If you have a pet, what do you think they do all day while you are gone?
  •  Do you incorporate veggies into breakfast?
    I am going to figure out how to do this. I am not a fan of egg and veggie mixes to be honest (like scrambles) so there’s gotta be another way!

  1. my workout today was 7 miles of hills on the treadmill! it was sooo hard to drag myself out of bed this morning though.

    that picture of kona cracked me up bc its the SAME exact face nacho gives me while he is laying on the bed while i get ready for work..he is crate trained so we have him in his crate if we are both out of the house..its mostly because even in his old age he will still pee on things and also to keep him out of trouble with the cats.

    i dont really include veggies in my breakfast but the only way i could think of was the egg and veggie scrambles you suggested..or maybe making a protein smoothie with spinach incorporated? ive done it before and you cant even taste the spinach 🙂

    • Oh yeah good thinking, I have done the spinach thing too and it just has been forever that I forgot! That is a great way because you really cant even taste it!

  2. I’m planning on doing a bodyrock work out today! When we leave my dogs home for long periods of time my mom will put on Animal planet (I wish I was kidding)..one of my dogs actually really likes watching tv though!

    • um… hilarious because I leave the TV on in the bedroom on animal planet for Kona. hahahaha sometimes it mysteriously changes to other channels too

  3. Kona looks EXACTLY like Jet! He doesn’t even lift his head when I leave. Lee is usually still sleeping so I know he’s thinking, “Bye mom! Dad and I are going to lay here and be comfy in bed for a few more hours!” He’s such a brat! 😉

    • I know they look so much alike!!! And Torrance is always up earlier than me now but when I use to be up before him I’d secretly be jealous every morning when they’d get to sleep in!!!

  5. I didn’t get a workout in today which sucks… way too many days off!!

    I don’t incorporate vegies into brekkie… I do get fruit though. Perhaps a pumpkin muffin or zucchini bread? 🙂

  6. Um, yeah, rock paper scissors AND tic-tac-toe have no merit once you are an adult. Chase and I are ALWAYS at a stalemate. ALWAYS.

    That dinner looks AMAZING. Those sweet potatoes look glorious! 🙂

    My workout was a super quick 6 mile run. I am hoping for a longer one tomorrow.

  7. Today I did a little mix of treadmill, jump rope, and stairs. Veggies are tough in breakfast if you don’t like them with eggs. I’m going to think about that one because I’m totally working on that one too.
