Oh, It’s Valentine’s Day? & VitaTops = YUM

During last night’s training I pretty much just wanted to die. It was a lot harder than I was feeling up to I guess. Maybe I just got soft  because it seemed most of last weeks workouts were a little more on the mellow side. Not complaining’ though, it kicked my butt as always!

It wasn’t necessarily any particularly difficult moves but more of the fact that our first round was a minute per station (and then a group water break), second round was 45 seconds (and then group water break), and then the last 2 rounds we did “speed rounds” basically going all out on all the moves 20 seconds per station, two times through with no break. It was intense!

Some of the moves on the menu included: tucks using the TRX straps, reverse crunches (or hyperextensions – below), triceps dips, speed rows using the resistance bands, and of course about 6 other ones.

(I figured I’d find you guys a good picture for an example Winking smile…. source here)

When I made it home (it actually took me forever to walk up the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment, no lie!) I was ready for some dinner!

Torrance had actually already eaten so dippin’ eggs for me it was! A glass of wine may have been enjoyed with my eggs… keepin it classy as always.

Dinner of champs.

And luckily, this weekend I finally remembered to pick up something I have been wanting to try for a while:

MAN have I been missing out! Those things are delicious! They don’t help with the whole “cutting back on starchy foods” (since one of these babies has a whopping 26g of carbs!) but they still make me feel a little less guilty. I especially love that they have no preservatives and are a very close resemblance to chocolate cake of course.

Truth be told, the Valentine’s Day thing isnt something I have ever been into. I’m all about holidays and any reason to eat or decorate, but I guess it doesnt hold any meaning for me and it doesn’t feel special to me for some reason (that is what our anniversary is for right?). Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am the opposite of a hopeless romantic.

Though I have to admit, I did enjoy it in my elementary school days! I loved doing the whole valentine card exchange in class and picking out my cards and writing them out and stuff the day before. Aw the memories.

Torrance is probably thrilled about the fact that I am not a fan. Though he did come home with a little Valentine present for me last night….

The most genius part of Valentine’s Day – conversation hearts! “LET’S KISS” indeed.

But hey, I’m kind of celebrating by wearing a red scarf and red shoes?

I am off to work! I will probably skip training and head there tomorrow night instead – I’m actually pretty sore today!

  • Are you one of those crazy Valentine’s Day people?
  • Have you tried any new foods/recipes you are lovin’ lately?
I have been majorly slacking on cooking lately and have been all about the snacks!
  • Very random, but just for fun: for the rest of your life would you rather have to wear an eye patch or have a missing front tooth (assuming there is no way to fix it)?
I think I’d choose missing front tooth because I’d rather be able to see out of both eyes!

  1. Lee and I are the same way…we really don’t make a big deal out of Vday. We went to dinner last night, but we go out to dinner all of the time, so it was just a normal weeknight for us. He works until 11pm tonight, so I’ll just be spending the night with Jet, my other love! 🙂

  2. I definitely think Valentines Day was so much better as a kid! 🙂 I used to LOVE all of the decorating, card swaps, candy and sweets!
Vitatops are simply wonderful!! I’ve never tried the chocolate ones, since I’m not a chocolate fan, but I DOOO love the banana nut kind. I’m tempted to get the new apple crisp one….ahhh talk about carb coma, but totally worth it! 😉 haha

  3. I’m not a fan of V-Day … it’s over-rated. Then again, I’ve never had a Valentine so maybe I’m one of those bitter girls? Bahaha.

And I’d totally rather go with the missing tooth. The thought of not being able to see everything … yea, I’d rather the tooth be gone!

  4. I am all about having a low key Valentine’s Day. We are going out for fajitas–TOTALLY unromantic and TOTALLY FUN! It is our new “tradition.” I do love those candy hearts. Those babies are so much fun!

I am recently obsessed with chunky applesauce from TJ’s. I cannot get enough of the stuff. I am starting to stockpile the stuff, just in case. I am becoming “that girl.” Ah!

  5. I love Valentine’s Day, but I’m not someone who expects jewelry or flowers or anything. I just like setting some extra-special time apart to spend with the hubby. 😉

That being said, he sent me flowers this year, which I definitely did appreciate. Any thoughtful gesture is always appreciated!! 🙂

  6. I’m obsessed with those Vitatops – they are amazing. I haven’t really tried any snacks other than Vitatops since I discovered them a month ago.

  7. I’ve been wanting to try a Vitatop!!! We are kinda celebrating this year, but we usually don’t. But I’ve decided it’s a way to cheer myself up during mid-winter & not having the greatest job. 🙂

I felt the same with my training on Monday – felt so dead after, way more than usual! Tricep dips kill me every time! Hate them, lol.

Not a fav of V-Day – I believe in showing your partner your love 365 days a year – not one, commericialized, money grabbing day. Cute Valentine though – one of my girls dropped a little Princess V-day card in my mailbox…. it was cute!

    • aw cute! I agree 100% about it being commercialized, I geuss that is why I dont have much interest in it just the fact that it is such a random day!
