“The Stripper,” Mexican Food Overload, & Beer Glass Collection

Quite the title huh? I know, I’m proud. And I know, this definitely sounds like a healthy living blog.

———————————

Training last night was good. Definitely a little more mellow than Monday night!

Some of the moves included a torso twist with alternating overhead press with kettle bells, ab roller wheel, bosu ball sit ups, inclined push ups with our feet on slider discs, running in place with high knees, and one I will forever refer to as “the stripper.”

“The stripper” consisted of holding onto a pole and doing a very low squat and then leaning back and pulling ourselves up. It actually felt good and was a little extra stretch from our squat madness earlier in the week. On one of the rounds it was extra awkward funny because I ended up at that station while the song “Cherry Pie” by Warrant was playing. Wonderful.

Yesterday actually ended up being a bit of an overload of Mexican food (not complaining!). I had the last leftover enchilada for lunch and then dinner was a taco salad.

Torrance specifically requested hard shell beef tacos (I usually only make chicken or shrimp soft tacos) for one night this week, so being the wonderful nice girlfriend I am, I made it happen.

For mine I ended up just breaking up a shell and melting a little cheese on it and then added some toppings – including some salsa and Greek yogurt.

Kind of like loaded nachos minus most of the cheese, but “taco salad” sounds better Winking smile

After dinner, we actually took the time reorganize and make room on the shelf to add some new glasses we’ve gotten for the beer glass collection.

We have tons now. Lots of different types of beers, and glasses from different countries. And also some “collector’s edition” from brands and sports teams!

I feel like we need to put something behind the glasses to contrast them, but then it might look a little cluttered… any ideas?

Kona was barking at us standing on the counter and obviously wanted to know what was going on.

Check out that harness! Hubba hubba.

  • Do you/have you ever collected anything?
I personally havent really (do shoes count?), the glasses sort of started as Torrance’s thing.
  • Do you prefer hard or soft shells for tacos?
  • If you make taco salads what do you include? That was delicious and I need ideas for it again (avocado will be added for sure!)

  1. hahaha Kona is such a looker!

The beer glasses are pretty cool! The only thing I can say I have collected is vinyls…i have alot of DVDs too if that counts! 😉

I like BOTH hard and soft shells, and i always need sour cream (or greek yogurt) on mine!

I made a great taco salad a bit ago..used ground turkey, taco seasoning, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, black beans, corn, tortilla strips and cheese…i bet cilantro or scallions would be good on there too!

    • Corn!!! Definitely need that next time!
And DVDs def count! Torrance’s dad has tons and I miss being able to just go borrow them from him all the time haha

  2. Shoes should definitely count! I collect nut butters, but that’s about it.

Taco salads are awesome – I use black beans, corn (I love the frozen fire roasted corn from TJ’s), avocado, sauteed veggies (peppers, onions, mushrooms), cheese, Greek yogurt, salsa, and some sort of meat (ground turkey, shrimp, beef, chicken, etc). Some times I will squeeze some fresh lime juice on top.

I can’t have a taco salad unless there are black beans in it; they are so super delicious that I pretty much just include them in every meal if I can help it 🙂

And if you think “cherry pie” is bad, at least “pour some sugar on me” wasn’t playing 😉

When Will and I have taco night I make mine into a salad too! Tacos are great and all, but I’m more about the greens than the shell 😀

  5. I usually end up doing the same thing with my tacos. They will break apart and I just end up smashing them up and making a ‘salad’.

    Love the harness! 🙂

  6. I used to collect a lot! Cat figurines, angels, and bouncy balls to name a few. Now…I don’t think I collect anything! I’m a minimist I guess 😉 haha

  7. So I collect shot glasses and corks. So weird but fun, right?

    February 23, 2012
    • uh yes, i think corks are pretty awesome actually.
I went to restaurant one time that had a GIANT wine glass (like 5 ft tall) that sits on the floor and they put a string of white lights up the stem of the glass and the huge glass itself was filled with tons of corks. I thought it was pretty much the most awesome thing ever!

  8. Our kitchen cabinets just like that- there is just no reason for that type of space it is so hard to fill! We have wine bottles filling our space.
