“Nice Peepers”

It has been more evident than ever lately that I without a doubt, attract awkwardness.

(Melissa, don’t worry I’m emailing you the link to that shirt, I know you need want it).

If you follow me on Twitter (or are my friend on Facebook) you may have seen my wonderful moment I had yesterday.

Yes, as I mentioned yesterday, I had work training (workshops, whatever) all day yesterday at a hotel. Convention style. Anyway, I sit down at my little seat/desk area and get all situated with the 20 other strangers around me.

I go to pull my water bottle out of my purse and as I am pulling it out I realize there is a black thing stuck to it/wrapped around the top of it. What the heck do I have in my purse that looks like that…?

Oh yeah…. a bra. Luckily I realized this before I pulled it all the way out. Though I am positive my nosey neighbor sitting next to me got a good glimpse of the goods.

The reason there is a bra in my purse is another story. Nothing too exciting, promise.

Honestly, this kind of shit is bound to happen to me (kind of like when I buzzed part of my ponytail off). But luckily, the bra incident wasn’t too bad. Especially compared to the times my skirt has gotten stuck in my underwear (yes, more than once) and one time even caused me to moon traffic on a busy street. Lovely.

After I posted it on Facebook, a friend of mine reminded me of one of my less-proud moments in a checkout line at the grocery store.

Let me just preface that story real quick by explaining something that you will probably think is really weird (because it is).

You know when you are at the mall, or a carnival or something and you see someone walk past you eating something that just looks soooo delicious? And you realize you must have that and maybe you ask them where they got it from? (come on, I know I am not the only one)

This happens to me…..with my boobs.

Let me explain.

I am naturally busty, I always have been. And I don’t know if it is because I grew up in a small town or what, but I have had random women (of all ages) come up to me at stores, the fair, the movies, etc and ask me “wow did you get those done here in town?” because as far as everyone knew, there were no cosmetic surgeons in our town and if there were, people would probably want to know (apparently).

Luckily for those people I am not someone that is easily offended (or I would have maybe slapped them or kicked them in the shin) so I usually just answer “oh no they are mine” something silly like that and they proceed to tell me “oh wow I was just wondering because I was wanting to get work done…” and then they get bored and walk away since I am obviously no help to them.

Yes this is something that has actually happened on multiple occasions! Crazy, I know!

Anyway, I blame those incidents on the awkward moment I am about to tell you about.

So one day, finishing up my usual grocery shopping, I head to the checkout line and start piling the contents of my cart onto the checkout stand belt. The person in front of me is just finishing up paying at this point and about to leave.

As I am unloading everything out of my cart onto the belt, sort of turning around to get everything situated on there I semi-make eye contact with the lady behind me, and naturally smile (because it is polite of course) and then continue piling stuff on and then push my cart further up.

As I am standing waiting for the cashier to scan all my stuff, out of the corner of my eye I cant help but notice the lady behind me staring at me. Not in an “ew-what-are-you-wearing” kind of way but more of a “maybe-i-know-her-from-somewhere” kind of way. So naturally (again) I turn toward her and smile.

And then she points right at me, like chest level (mind you she is only about 2 ft away maybe) and says “WOW! You have really nice peepers!!!”

And without skipping a beat I say “Oh thanks! They’re real!”

I pretty much realized what I did right away and she instantly replied “Um….… I was talking about your eyes…..”

…….awkward silence.

The cashier looked at me like she was super embarrassed for me and then all 3 of us basically burst out laughing. As soon as it popped out of my mouth I knew that she meant my eyes. Word vomit.

Dont worry, I will be back to the usual scheduled food and fitness posts next week! 🙂

Have a good day!

  • Are you someone who is easily embarrased?

  2. I’m extremely awkward – so something ridiculous happens like once a day. In fact, I already ran into my coworker this morning. Directly into him. LOL

    • haha oh Lauren! I know I think it takes so much for me to be embarrased because I am constantly doing awkwrad things so its like the norm.

  4. I get mortified EXTREMELY easily. When I lived in the Dominican Republic, people were CONSTANTLY talking about my butt. They would use this slang word that I was never quite sure how appropriate it was… I was most embarrassed when salesgirls would do it in stores. And call other people over to look at it. haha.

  5. Oh. My. Goodness. I am very easily embarrassed, so I would DIE if anyone commented on my “peepers.” Thank goodness that I basically still wear a training bra so I think I dodged that bullet.

I, however, am totally prone to awkward situation. If it is a windy day, I am ALWAYS wearing a dress or a skirt and someone inevitably will get to see my underwear at some point. I also have a tendency to have sports bras ALL over–so the bra in the purse thing has definitely happened to me, too!

  6. tooooo funny!! i’m super awkward and always embarrassing myself in someway, shape, or form. last time was my sisters birthday party..her friend was trying to get me to take a shot with him and I have this joke that I dont take shots because “they turn me into a hoe” LOL..its a long story. anyways, I shouted out to him, “look, i’m not a whore anymore” and it was right as Kevin was on the phone with his mom who was calling him to tell him his sister was going into labor. umm, yeah. i’m pretty sure she had no idea that was me in the background, but still embarassing nonetheless 😉

  7. Literally just LOL! I used to hate awkward moments, but now I don’t mind as much because you most likely won’t ever seen some of those people again!

    • exactly!! I tell myself that too “meh i will probably never see them them again!” I would probably be embarassed if I did something in front of a lot of people, like tripped on stage doing a speech or something!

Hilarious. But hey, it happens. When I was working at Trader Joe’s a customer handed me a reusable bag with undies in it! They were clean and it’s because she travels a lot…she later explained. She was so embarrassed but I couldn’t have cared less.

  10. HILARIOUS!!!! I’m not easily embarrassed at all, and awkward/embarrassing situations seem to come my way quite frequently. I think I used to turn red much more quickly, but then I started teaching zumba on a stage in front of complete strangers and also teaching 7th graders. It somehow made me not be easily embarrassed at all anymore. 🙂

    • I bet! Being in front of people would definitely make you feel more comfortable Im sure as you get used to it!

  11. Hahaha, Andrea, you have beautiful eyes.
    But great nungas also!

Two St. Patty’s day’s ago I had to be at the airport for a 7am flight (coming back to Toronto from Calgary, where I had the best night of my life the night before), and I had gone to bed at 3am and was not feeling the greatest (understatement), and when I got there I discovered my suitcase was overweight. So I didn’t want to pay, but I wanted to quickly take care of the situation, so I just started throwing stuff from my suitcase into my carry-on bag. I was being careless and threw my bag of dirty clothes out of my suitcase and my dirty underwear came flying out across the floor. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life, and worse because I had randomly run into my friend’s boyfriend in the airport moments before and he was in line behind me. So I couldn’t even pretend it never happened.
I think that might become a cartoon post.
