A Long Workout & Old Friends
My half day off yesterday was refreshing. I got a few things done and actually took the time to hang out and walk brown dog.
Since I was able to, I decided to go to the 5:30 training for once (instead of the usual 6:30) just so I could be home sooner. It was nice and I wish I was able to go at that time everyday!
It seemed like a really long workout, though we only did 2 sets (2 rounds) of everything last night but they were a minute and a half stations, which was a killer! Plus, we did a pretty long warmup that consisted of burpees, mountain climbers, and jumping jacks.
Some of the moves included lateral presses, reverse lunges with a chest press, downward dogs, seal jacks, tricep pulldowns with a resistance bands, squats on air discs, and bicep curls with the TRX straps.
We also did bus drivers which are a killer. I couldn’t find a picture but basically you hold a large 10 lb plate out in front of you keeping your arms straight and twist back and forth like you are turning a wheel. Definitely a tough one!
I’m feelin’ it all today that’s for sure!
When I came out from training to get in the car to go home, I had a nice surprise! Torrance and brown dog were waiting for me! He had taken her for a little walk across the street to greet me!
I would probably walk to training everyday if I didn’t have to cross the overpass. There is an overpass you have to walk over that has no shoulder/sidewalk so you have to time it just perfectly when no cars are coming. A little dangerous, but I have done it a few times safely.
After the sweaty mess, dinner was super simple.
A little pot roast, half a baked potato with cheese, sliced tomatoes, and steamed asparagus with balsamic.
I am 100% ecstatic about tomorrow being Friday! The weekend is always welcome of course, but also, Torrance’s childhood best friend from FL (now living in GA) is coming up to visit for the weekend! Since Torrance’s mom moved to FL when he was 6, he spent the entirety of every summer there until he graduated high school pretty much.
The second summer that Torrance and I were dating, I actually flew down to FL and we went on a cruise and I got to meet Matt (his best friend) and I was surprised how much alike they were. Easily mistaken as brothers.
That was in 2004…woah. Here is a throwback picture from the cruise that summer just for the fun of it.
Is it weird that 8 years later we dont really look that much different? Torrance still looks 16.
We actually saw Matt when we broke down in IL for 5 days on our drive to NC, because at that time he was living in St Louis, which was only a couple of hours away from where we were stranded so he came to visit us. Ah….memories.
- How close do you live to your gym/where you work out? Or do you primarily work out at home?
- Are you still close with any of your childhood friends? How far do you and your best friend go back?
Sadly no, most of my current close friends are high school or later (my 2 closest friends are actually after high schooL!) My oldest “friend” believe it or not, is actually Torrance – we go back to 7th grade! I think probably the only person I’m still close with from that long ago. So weird.
