A Look At What’s In My Gym Bag

I loved hearing all of your feedback on yesterday’s post! Sounds like you guys thoroughly enjoy when I embarrass myself…. good to know you guys are all waiting on edge for more ridiculous stuff to happen to me! Haha.

Well, the good news is I actually made it to training last night. I have to make it three times this week since things have been hectic, the timing just hasnt worked the last few weeks and I have only been making it two times and it’s just not enough (though it is better than nothing!)

We did a lot of upper body last night including kettlebell swings, push ups, pushup with a dumbbell chest press, and a couple different shoulder moves with the resistance bands. I feel it today, and it burns so good.

When I got home it was dinner time. Torrance had pulled all the stuff out for taco makings… I think it was a hint. As I have mentioned before his taco style and mine are a little different (he likes hard shell with ground beef – or in last night’s case, ground turkey) and I prefer chicken or shrimp in a soft tortilla.

Since I didnt feel like cooking two types of meat (lazy) I just went along with his hard shell option. As I was assembling my tacos, I realized that I think that is the first time I have had a hard shell taco since… maybe when I was a little kid or something. Weird.

Either way, it was a delicious change-up for me – though I still prefer the soft taco version hands down!

As I had mentioned before, with this training program, I have the option to go 5:30 – 6:30 or 6:30 – 7:30. Since I get off work AT 5:30 I typically go home and let the dog out, etc and change and then head to training at 6:30. Which leaves me getting home at 7:30. Not a big deal since the gym, my house, and my work are all within 2 miles of each other.

Anyway, I have actually been leaving work 5-10 minutes early a few days (since they kindly dont seem to care) so that I can make it to the 5:30 training instead.

Since that is the case, I have been packing a gym bag again to change when I get there. I actually havent had to pack a gym bag for quite a while, so I thought it would be fun to share what I tote along with me.

So whats in the bag?

For starters – my workout attire of course!

  • Shorts (and spandex for underneath) – I actually prefer to wear capris or running tights while working out but it has been so hot I have finally gotten used to wearing shorts all the time.
  • Sports bra – I have a few favorites, but I am really loving the Moving Comfort brand lately
  • Shirt – I rarely workout in tank tops (unless I’m doing strictly cardio) and actually prefer a loose T-shirt
  • My new favorite training shoes – NewBalance WT20’s (you can see my review of them here)

And then there is the small stuff….

  • Hair ties – cant ever have enough of those!
  • Tampons -gotta be prepared!
  • Deodorant – I keep an extra stick in my gym bag at all times
  • Chapstick – my lips get chapped after my workout sometimes
  • Ibuprofen
  • Water
  • My phone (since I use it as my iPod) & headphones – at training I dont use my headphones since he plays music over the loud speaker for the group, but we take turns making playlists so sometimes I hook mine up to use for the group

One thing not pictured (because I am currently out) is some Rolaids or Tums. Sometimes after a really hard workout I get heartburn so I like to have it handy!

Have a great Wednesday!

  • Hard or soft shell for tacos?
  • What is something always in your gym bag? Anything different than what I have?
  • Do you prefer to workout in shorts or pants/caprs? Tshirt or tank top?

  1. me and you are on the same wavelength taco wise! I cant stand hard shells–they always fall apart when eating them! so i stick to soft tacos…kevin on the other hand loves hard tacos!

i always have extra headbands/hair ties in my gym bag..but mostly the same stuff you have. Is that spandex underwear for under your shorts?

if im running, and its hot outside, shorts/skirts are a most. if i’m in the gym, i work out with capris. Tank top for running during hot weather, tshirt in the gym 😉 i wear running tights in winter though and they are the comfiest things ever!

    • pretty similar to me! And yes I weat the spandex shorts under my regular shorts because we do a lot of weird stuff that involves shorts riding up haha

  2. I must definitely prefer soft shell tacos! My gym bag has all the same stuff as yours, plus my ipod charger (it usually gets turned on in my purse and is nearly dead by the time I get to Zumba), toothbrush and toothpaste, small jewelry pouch, sunglasses, body paint (I know….I promise it’s for blacklight Zumba haha), and some other random things. I definitely prefer tanks (usually cut up loose t’s), and I like shorts because I get so hot. I do have a few pair of comfy running capris that I love, and for Zumba I like to wear my baggy pants – for some reason it makes me feel cool haha. 🙂

  3. LOVE me some hard tacos! I have a “crunch” thing….
Almost all your stuff is the same stuff I have in my bag! I have a lippy (my word for chapstick) with me at all times. Like literally all times, I am NEVER without one! 🙂

  4. I am more of a soft Taco guy. I have the same as you do in my gym bag…wait…no I don’t some things I just won’t need. I have a jump rope in mine and tons of scratch pads with different work outs on them. I wear shorts to work out. Lately no shirt while I run outside. Trying to get a tan and I don’t know anyone around where I run…so, I don’t care if I scare them…hehe

I haven’t had hard taco shells in forever…. I need to try them ASAP!

  6. For me, I tend to prefer no taco shell but maybe a taco “salad” esque thing with some chips for dipping on the side. a deconstructed taco, perchance?

I’ve semi-recently jumped on the workout capri train, and can’t seem to get off of it. It might be that I’m doing a little bit of running, so I don’t like the thighs rubbing together. But I also like them tights, I feel like I can move more!

Also, to not answer any of your questions, but riff off your bag: I feel like, no matter what bag it is, I have tampons in it. It could be a purse I’ve used once in my life, or a clutch I borrowed from someone. Tampons are inevitably inside. Until, of course, I need one.

    • haha yes, same with hairties. i find them everywhere. laying on the floor, in my car, etc until I need one – then there are none. Hate that!

  7. I’m usually a soft taco person. Honestly I’m not sure why. We always used the hard shells as a kid, but I transitioned as I got older. 😉

  8. I am definitely a soft taco lover! The hard shell kind always get stuck in my throat for some reason (maybe I should learn to slow down when I eat, huh?).

My necessity for the gym is my iPod. There is NO way I’m getting on a treadmill without it!

  9. I can’t even remember the last time I had a hard shell taco…I usually opt for soft 🙂 I need to dedicate a bag to my gym stuff. I end up shoving clothes and shoes in my teaching bag last minute and inevitably end up without my iPod or bobby pins.
