Two Kitchen Tools I’m Lovin’

Okay, I found something else I love. Surprise surprise (considering I have the attention span of a 2 year old).

I figured I would share incase anyone else out there is looking for ways to make delicious food but be lazy at the same time. Don’t lie, I know you are thinking it.

Last night while I was cooking dinner – I decided to whip out something I purchased from Pampered Chef forever ago and havent ever used.

pcmicro

The Pampered Chef MicroCooker.

I have no idea why I havent ever used  this. But basically, it is a microwave steamer. They suggest it for reheating food, frozen stuff, and of course steaming vegetables.

I got the large one (there is a smaller one available too) knowing very well that I like to steam a lot of veggies at once.

So I cut up a few heads of broccoli, added a little margarine, garlic powder, and a couple tablespoons of water, and popped that sucker in the microwave for 5 minutes.

It turned out perfect! And so simple. I will probably use this everyday now, not gonna lie.

The other item I am loving (also from Pampered Chef) that I purchased somewhat recently is the “Covered Baker.”

This one they also have a large or small version.

This is their large version – the “Deep Covered Baker”

And the small version, the “Round Covered Baker”

I personally opted for the smaller version, being that it is just Torrance and I typically and the price on this item is a little hefty. I had to talk myself into buying it and promised that I would use it a lot to get my moneys worth. I am very glad I did, because now that I have it in my kitchen it was 140% worth it.

The reason this thing was so appealing is because a friend of mine (who is not a good cook, for lack of a better term) swears by it, and it was advertised to me to use for “quick and easy weeknight dinners.”

Who doesn’t want quick and easy weeknight dinners? I know nights that I go to training I am ready for some good food, but not something that is going to take long to cook because I don’t want to eat at 9:00.

I tell you, this thing is magical.

That friend of mine…. she told me “yeah you just put a bunch of stuff in the pot and put it in the microwave and it cooks much faster than in the oven and it tastes like it was done in the oven! Even chicken!”

Now, like I said, she isnt much of a cook so I was very skeptical of her “chicken in the microwave” sales pitch…until they actually showed it to me at a party. One of the consultants cooked chicken breast in the microwave for us to try and it was amazing and moist and delish. And it only took a few minutes.

So now, on weeknights, I like to use this baby… I will pop two or three chicken breasts in there, throw in some sort of marinade or spices, and then put it in the microwave for about 10 minutes or so (it works in the oven too obviously) and voila! So simple.

Other things I have cooked in there include fish, chicken breasts and baby red potatoes, seasoned mixed veggies, and there are a few side items that came with the little cookbook I got for it that I am wanting to try.

I have heard good things about the larger one as you could put a lot in there for a “one pot” type meal, like a whole chicken, veggies, and potatoes for example.

Boring disclaimer part: I am in no way affiliated with Pampered Chef. I was not paid for this and everything in this post is my own personal opinion and experience using these products.

  2. I have a microwave omelet maker and I love it. The funny thing is that it’s just a piece of plastic. But it’s awesome 🙂

Okay, I got the baker for my wedding and have yet to use it. I was so skeptical of microwaving chicken! But I guess I must try it!

    • me too! But not even kidding its so easy. I will just put like 2 chicken breasts in there with some balsamic dressing (or other marinade) and coat them and then pop the lid on and put it in the muicrowave for 8-10 minutes and voila! Just like they were baked in the oven!

  7. I’ve actually been loving my salad spinner lately! Everyone jokes about how a salad spinner is such a lame wedding gift, but I’ve been using mine constantly! When I’m making kale chips, I need to get the kale really dry, and that’s the only thing that works!
