A Friday Full of Randoms: Essie, Fleas, & Whoopie Pies
Random #1: The obvious
Yes, it is true, I have not been blogging. I figured I would wait until Friday to put together a nice random Friday post with all the things going on in Andrea land at the time being. This may include (but is not limited to): fleas, barfing after workouts, making a fool out of myself (of course), hanging out at a dirt bike track, eating whoopie pies.
Random #2: Isn’t this adorable?
Yes I am in love with Essie colors now (and its lovely ability to last without chips for a while!)
I am trying to be more fun with doing my nails. I used to paint them all the time but lately I have been lazy.
Random #3: I am clumsy.
We all know this.
The other day when Torrance’s iPhone 5 came in the mail (jealous) I realized his case I ordered for it is not here. Since he is a disaster waiting to happen with phones I figured I would get a temporary cheapish one until his comes in the mail.
So I ran into Verizon right down the road from me.
I hate going into Verizon for 2 reasons – 1) I am an AT&T customer, not a Verizon one so they always try to solicit me at checkout (the closest AT&T is like a 15 minute drive though) and 2) it is always so busy in there and understaffed so I have to wait forever.
With that being said, I walked in there at lunch the other day and when I opened the door I promptly saw about 8 nicely dressed guys that work there standing around staring at the door waiting for a customer. [Weird]. And then of course (seriously, of course) as I proceeded to walk through the door, my heel got stuck in the door jam/kick plate on the floor causing me to trip a little bit.
I caught myself, not falling on my face, however my heel was actually stuck, like I had to grab my leg and shake it around to get my heel out.
One of the guys ran over all overly dramatic (as all his coworkers continued to stare) like “OH MY GOD!!! ARE YOU OKAY?”
Yes, of course I am okay, you jackass.
But he was actually really embarrassed for me. Like more embarrassed than I actually was.
But really, I mean come on. The one day everyone is just standing around staring at the door waiting for a customer that happens…. haha all I can do is laugh at myself.
Random #4: Fleas.
Okay, in Alaska we didnt deal with fleas or heartworm medicine or any of that hoopla. It is too cold so they dont live up there.
So of course when we moved here to NC last year I immediately started brown dog on her monthly flea, tick, and heartworm meds. Religiously, every month.
Well gross, the other day I found fleas on her.
I dont like bugs. I was super weirded out. Which led to me immediately giving her a bath and washing all our bedding, her bedding, etc.
She was traumatized from the bath. She rarely gets baths since she is low maintenance for grooming and usually we do it outside. So I think that was her first time having to do it in the bathtub. She doesnt even hate water.
Chances are, I doubt she will ever go the bathroom again.
Anyway, after that we were picking some fleas off of her (still!!! after the bath!….so gross!) and I found a weird purple lump on her stomach.
So the next day I took her to the vet of course to check that out. They also assured me it has been a super bad fall for fleas here and they gave her some stronger flea meds and voila! they are gone….. and I am still cleaning my house like crazy in hopes they will stay gone.
And the purple lump was just a cyst with blood in it. As gross as that sounds it is apparently harmless in her case.
Random #5: Dirt bikes
Seriously, dirt bikes all the time. I have mentioned a lot that I got with Torrance frequently to tracks so he can ride. That is his thing that he likes to do.
He has recently decided he wants to maybe try racing (for fun) in the Spring. (This means more time at the track).
I am excited about it a little because A) he needs to “participate” in his hobby more often, and B) it will force him to workout (muahaha) since he has to be in good shape; and C) it is actually pretty fun watching the races.
I will also not lie when I say there are attractive men there.
Shut up, a girl can look.
Random #6: Workout = barfing
Yes. For the first time, I ralphed after a workout this week.
It really wasnt even one that I felt like it was "super duper” hard or anything. I just wasnt feeling it and was really struggling, but kept pushing on. But right when we got done, I ralphed.
Good story, I know.
Random #7: Whoopie pie
I tried a whoopie pie for the first time ever. How weird that I have never had one, since I am a cake fanatic and all.
A coworker’s family member brought some in for us at work (she works at a bakery) and it was the most amazing thing ever.
This particular one was ginormous and surprisingly I couldn’t even eat it all in one sitting. I even saved one bite for Torrance.
Just kidding, I made sure to eat the other half before I got home so he couldn’t experience it.
Moral of the story – I must learn to bake these. Or maybe not, because then I would probably eat too much, thus adding [more] junk to the trunk.
Random #8: Decorating
I need to get my shit together. Seriously.
I love decorating for Halloween, Fall, and Christmas; yet there are no decorations up 10 days before Halloween! This makes me sad.
I will probably skip right to my fall décor at this point. I feel so behind the times this year and havent even pulled my decorations out yet! Geez. Where is my holiday spirit?
- Do you decorate for Halloween and/or fall? Or do you just wait for Christmas?
- What is one of your significant others’ hobbies?
- Ever dealt with fleas before?
