Workin’ My Abs In My Livin’ Room

This morning I actually rolled my ass out of bed and did a mini workout in my living room. Yes, in the morning.

The joy of doing something in my living room as opposed to going down to the gym is that I can literally roll out of bed and like, just do it. I dont have to go out to my car or anything (lazy).

Regardless, it still has to be pretty mellow for me to do it. I have come to the conclusion that if I avoid high intensity cardio first thing in the morning, it is probably best.

So I did this:

Abs

I also added 20 pushups and a minute long wall sit.

The only problem with this?

When I am on the floor doing…. say, crunches and planks; Kona gets all worked up and paws at me and stares at me and is all up in my biz-nass.

Oh, and dont forget about barking in my face.

Brown2 RUDE.

I dont know if she is jealous, mad, or as I assume – cheering me on.

  • Are you an “at home” workout type person? If so, where do you “get” your workout ideas from (particular websites/blogs, make them up yourself, magazines, etc)?
I am not an at home workout person typically – I get way too distracted at home (or barked at nonstop) and prefer to workout elsewhere.
  • Random – but as far as workout clothes go; do you prefer bright colors, patterns, or are you a neutral color type person (black, white, grey, etc). Do you try to match your outfits?
My workout outfits hardly ever match. Most of my pants are black with a color accent, and then I always wear random T-shirts that usually say or have stuff on them or are a solid color, sometimes bright colors.

  2. I’m definitely an “at home” workout person. When I was in university I was spoiled, and the gym I belonged to was pretty small. When I was there at 6 am I usually had the entire place to myself. Since then working out at a gym just isn’t the same, so I usually stick to my basement.

  3. Always a dark colored bottom, usually capri’s and then random race tee’s on the top!

  4. I love the Tone it Up workouts! 🙂 I workout at home a LOT – like all of my workouts with the exceptions of the classes that I teach. Our 1939 home had a formal living room that we obviously didn’t need or have the means to furnish, so I turned it into a workout room. My brown dog Harley (who is seriously Kona’s twin) and my ltitle dog Clyde and my cat all roam around while I’m working out and paw at me. Sometimes I have to lock them out of the room because they are such a distraction haha. I use a lot of Beach Body workouts (Insanity, P90X, Chalean Extreme), Jillian Michaels, Tone it Up, Blogilates, random pinterest workouts, and then I make up my own as well. Basically, I just don’t want to be bored! 🙂

  5. Omg keeping the dogs off me while I workout is impossible. And they’re bawling if they’re in the other room!!

  6. I like to workout at home…and I have to put the dogs in a different room. Last night I did just a quick 20 min pilates core workout (after a 4m walk with the dogs) and they wouldn’t leave me alone! It’s adorable but distracting.

Hi Andrea, I just came across your blog and love!

I am very jealous that you live in NC, I have been trying to talk my husband into moving south (we are in Boston) but he is a city boy through and through!

Your dog is so adorable! I have 2 dogs (boxer mixes) and the youngest is definitely my little cheerleader, right by side when I am working out at home (and my jogging buddy). Its hard to plank and do pushups becuase she thinks I am getting down on the floor to play, and jumps all over.

    • Ha! That is so adorable!! And then they make you laugh when you are trying to do a serious plank and it just doesnt work out – definitely know how that is!
Glad you like, and hope the weather is treating you okay in Boston right now!!
