A Weekend Where I Took The Good With The Bad
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
Mine was…. one of those weekends that was a pain in the ass, haha. But sometimes you just have to take the good with the “bad.” (I say “bad” because it wasnt that bad and could always be worse).
The bad: Friday after work I realized one of my tires on our new car was almost flat. Sonovabitch. The tires were actually pretty bad and we knew we were going to have to buy new ones soon, but thought we would have at least a couple months on them.
On Friday I was all in the mood where I’m like “F it! We will deal with it tomorrow!” So Saturday rolled around and we aired it up, etc to see if it would even hold air to get it 6 miles to a tire place (the answer is… barely). Called a million diff tire places and no one had what we wanted in stock until we finally found one. Rushed to get there so the tire wouldn’t go flat on the way, and barely made it (success!)
And if you know me, you know I hate spending money on boring things like tires. Especially how expensive those damn things are. We have low profile tires (meaning hardly any rubber) so you would think they would be less money since they have less rubber… Well that would be my logic, but apparently I had it backwards.
The good: While we waited for the tire, we went down the road to a furniture place and got a new mattress finally. Ours is really, really bad. We bought a super cheap one when we first moved here last July since we were broker than broke from moving. You get what you pay for… and damn does your sleep reflect that.
We have been talking about it for a while but just havent actually gone in to get one… so we figured it was the perfect opportunity since we had an hour to burn while we waited for our car.
However, we have to wait until Thursday for it to be delivered because they didn’t have it in stock. I can’t wait. Like really, Thursday can’t come soon enough!
The bad: Speaking of a new mattress, I threw my back out yesterday. I was cleaning and just bent over to grab something and move it and I got this sharp [annoying] pain in my back.
I didn’t actually “throw” it out because from what Ive heard that is worse – but I got this horrible pain in the back of my ribs basically almost like an intense feeling that there was an air pocket or something or like my back needed to be popped, but more intense than ever. So that put me down for a few hours until it felt a little better. And I am one of those people that is like “oh it will be fine when I wake up in the morning (because it usually is), but damn, its still there. Not as intense, but its a dull pain thats still there.
Maybe if we had our new mattress already it wouldn’t still be hurting? No one has time for a hurt back, I mean really.
The good: Since I couldnt really move for a few hours without being in pain, I got to lounge around without my usual feeling of “I have to get this done!” while Torrance finished vacuuming and then waited on me hand and foot while I finished watching the 2nd season of ‘Raising Hope’ on Netflix and me and Kona had some serious conversations.
And also, after a while when I could actually move and stuff without feeling like I was going to really throw my back out, I made a delicious dinner.
Baked lemon-garlic shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, sugar snap peas (and some tomatoes).
The mixed(?): On Sunday morning (before the back incident) I could not sleep. So I decided to get up and go to the grocery store to get that out of the way.
I know going to the grocery store at 8am sounds like something a 70 year old woman does, but it was semi-awesome because NO ONE WAS THERE.
I didn’t have to push through people like usual or wait forever because the lady with 4 kids is taking up the whole aisle.
However, apparently they do a lot of their stocking right after I get there (as I was leaving they were starting to stock stuff) and also, the meat and seafood counter with the good stuff wasn’t open that early.
Maybe if I wait one more hour later it will be perfect?
- What is the last “boring” item you had to spend a lot of of money on?
- What time of day do you usually go grocery shopping?
