My To-Do List As of Lately

Take more pictures.

It’s no secret that I suck at taking pictures. Not that my pictures are bad (well, thats not always true) but more that I just dont take enough and then regret it later. I need to get snap-happy.

(It is also ironic that this post will include no pictures).

Lose 10 more pounds by November.

If you recall, I have lost 10 pounds since this post in April (actually 11 lbs) and over the last 2 months or so have just been maintaining that, but I need to get back on the good-eating wagon and keep goin’ down. I figure another 10 is very doable in that time frame.

Save money on groceries.

I mean how many times have you seen me bring this one up?

Lately I have been keeping a strict budget (I’m kinda a nerdy numbers-spreadsheet type of girl) and really I jut spend a lot of money on food. But I love food, so duh.

But really, I suck. I mean I spend too much for two people.

And where I live, luckily we have the luxury of a lot of local stuff, and the cost of food overall is pretty dang inexpensive comparatively speaking to other places, so I just need to be more frugal and go back to planning stuff out so I’m not being wasteful either.

I am actually considering integrating a grocery list/meal plan sharing thing into the blog every week or so, just for something fun to share because I know this is an area most of us foodies are interested in (or at least I like to look at other people’s stuff for ideas too!)

Plan a mother-effing vacation.

I said before that Torr and I havent taken a real vacation since we have moved here. Luckily we take a lot of mini trips so it isnt like we dont get a break, but really theres just nothing like a week+ long vacay where no one can get a hold of us and we sit around with drinks and do nothing.

We have our options narrowed down to a couple things/places, now we just have to get the “when” part down.

So that’s that.

That’s what I’ve got going on right now and what I’m working on. It always makes me feel better to put a list out there.

  • What do you think about sharing grocery escapades/meal planning around here? Is that something you guys would like to see?
  • What are some current things on your “to-do” list as of lately?

  3. Re: vacation. Come to Canadaaaaaa!

I have been really lazy with grocery shopping lately. I live aloney on my owney and I don’t usually cook for just myself so then I just don’t go grocery shopping and eat out all the time. Currently eating a chopped salad from Subway as I type this (and I’m actually super impressed, they’re so good!). So definitely spending too much money on food over here, so I hear ya. I remember a long time ago you posted a picture of your perfect little lunch in a bento box and since then I have been on the hunt for a bento box like that, but I can’t find one anywhere! Where did you get it? I even went to a Japanese store thinking for sure they’d have them, but nope. No dice.

And honestly taking pictures has become like second nature to me. It’s such a habit now that I don’t even notice. I’m usually so quick and sneaky when I take pictures of my food that no one even notices I’m doing it.

    • Canada, yeah?

Yeah, I need to just do it!! (Take more pics everyttthing!)

I got my bento box from! And I’m almost positive they ship to Canada! And there are lots to choose from there (and ideas) and I loove it. You just reminded me that I need to start using that again!

  4. I second the Canada comment. If you’re into spending time outdoors there’s lots of beautiful spots.

I’ve been keeping a budget for the last year and a half and it’s amazing the difference it makes. I’m much more aware of how much I spend. Once I reach the limit for a category, that’s it, I can’t spend anymore for the rest of the month.

    • Yes! Exactly. I am a crazy budgeter and that is how I know the grocery bill is just out of control. It seems like that is the only thing I allow myself to go over on (perhaps because I love food? Haha)!

    • Yes! I love Canada! We actually have a future trip in the works for a little hop around in the east side of Canada. Itll be a few years tho! Living in Alaska, I’ve spent some time in the western areas and visited a few times (BC, etc) but not over on this side (eastern and more central) of the country! I’d love to check it out!
