My Weekend By The Numbers
THREE. number of days it takes 3 people to drive from NC to FL, completely pack up a [really full] 3 bedroom house, load it into a cargo trailer, and drive back to NC with it and grandmother in tow.
TEN THOUSAND. the weight of the trailer after we loaded everything up.
FOUR. number of meltdowns grandma had while trying to pack up her belongings and move her.
NINETEEN. combined hours of sleep I have gotten between Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon night.
FOUR. number of shots of liquor required to take the edge off while trying to move grandma.
THREE. number of times I dropped heavy things on my feet and almost broke something.
SEVENTY. number of times I said “we dont have time for that!”
EIGHT. number of times I freaked out thinking there was a lizard crawling on me because a baby lizard got trapped and lost somewhere in the car with us on our drive home.
TWENTY TWO. the number of times I reassured grandma that she didnt leave anything behind in Florida, and if she did, we would buy her a new one, dammit.
And just for fun, here are some more facts:
SIX. The number of times we have moved full households in the last 2 1/2 years (not all us).
THREE. The number of those moves that have been moves to different states.
FORTY EIGHT. The number of hours we have spent in the car on road trips in the last 3-1/2 weeks.
TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FORTY (2,240). Miles driven on said road trips in the last 3-1/2 weeks.
Needless to say, I’m whooped and oh-so-happy to have that ordeal over with.
As we suspected, grandma had not packed a dang thing over the last 8 months, but somehow we managed to bust it out and get it done in less than 3 days.
It was so, so hard saying goodbye to his mom’s house and just leaving it there.
But we happily said good riddance to Tampa!
Not really, because we will be back. But the last few times we have been there have been so bitter sweet, so glad we can move on from the bad stuff now and next time we head back it will be for good times and good memories!
- Give me a “number” from your weekend.
- Is there a certain place (city/town/etc) that holds good or bad memories for you?
