What I’ve Been Up To

Besides the ongoing saga with brown dog, things have been getting a lot mellower around here for me compared the last few months.

A couple weeks ago, we took a little impromptu trip to Raleigh. Torrance and his dad had a work meeting there (since they work for the same company) for a few hours so Marcy (his dad’s wife) and I took a little stroll around downtown since it was a nice day.

Raleigh

Here is a secret about me – I am totes not a city person (PS. I hate the word totes). However, downtown Raleigh was very historical and super cute and fun for a few hours! We hung out at a really cool coffee shop for a bit. And then later on we ate some awesome Bruschetta and walked around being tourists for a bit.

On a random note, I had to take a picture of the “Mecca Restaurant” sign because in my hometown in Alaska there is also a Mecca Restaurant (and bar) downtown with the same exact sign.. and let me tell you, it is quite the place (I saw a man pooping on the sidewalk outside there one time).

Moving on – besides that, we also went to the fair last weekend – which as always was a blast.

Fair

And for once, I went and didn’t eat everything in sight – so hey, that was a plus.

I have, however, been working out still…

And I have somehow managed to maintain the weight I lost and am staying strong around 156 currently (but haven’t lost any more, yet)…

Selfie

That happens to be the most recent picture of myself from last week… I am not much of a selfie-taker so thats what you get right now.

Oh, and I can’t forget to mention – I finally perfected the sock bun (yes, I don’t have to have Torrance help me anymore)…

Sockbun

…which has actually led to further laziness in the hair department for me. I mean I have seriously worn a sock bun 7 out of the last 10 days.

PS – I had a major case of ugly face today so with a clever phone/hand placement – problem solved.

Also, besides my hair I have majorly been slacking on fall decorating. Usually I am all up in that, but to be honest, all my decorations are buried in the closet right now and I have been too lazy to dig them out.

Sorry I’m not sorry.

  • Tell me what you’ve been up to lately!
  • Do things usually calm down this time of year for you, or start to get busier since the holidays are coming?
For me, summer was so crazy this year that it is my mellow time and luckily we don’t have anything crazy planned for the holidays this year! so I am enjoying the slower pace.

  1. My hair isn’t long enough/I don’t have enough hair to do the sock bun. That makes me kind of sad cause I think it’s pretty cute.

I’m the opposite of you, I could never live in a small town. I’m definitely a big city person. I worked in a small town once, and it felt very claustrophobic.
