More Donut For Kona & I Love Garlic Bread

Guess who has some good news?

Yeep. That crazy.

As you know, miss Kona had two mammary tumors and another round tumor removed about 2 weeks ago.

Of course, we had those sent off to the lab to test them to see if they were cancerous… and the results came bad: all were benign

I have to admit I was/am very relieved!

So yesterday she had all her staples taken out, and she was a happy girl. But at the same time, she was kind of a sad girl because she has the donut-of-shame back on (which if you didn’t know, is the alternative to the cone-of-shame).

One of her incision sites is a little red around it, which the vet thinks it is just a little reaction to the sutures. So she has me finishing up her antibiotics and keeping some Neosporin on it… and apparently Kona thinks Neosporin is candy, thus, the donut.

Overall, she seems to be doing fine and back to her normal self, so thats great news!

On a separate note – I have am also sad and happy at the same time (thankfully not because I have to wear a donut around my neck though), but about my dinner the last two nights.

Sad because I made Torrance some awesome chicken alfredo, but I didn’t actually have any (gold star for self control). I instead just cooked the chicken and veggies from the pasta separately and ate those by themselves. But I felt it only appropriate to let myself have garlic bread (and cheeeeese on top).

And I’m kiiiind of on a salad kick lately. And yes, that is a leftover piece of garlic bread. What kind of Italian do you know who wastes garlic bread?

  • Do you have to cook different meals sometimes in your house at dinnertime? Or does everyone just eat the same thing?

Sometimes I make a separate meal for myself, but not very often. I usually just force my husband into eating healthy stuff, or I go for it and eat the not so healthy stuff. Good for you for sticking to your guns!

    • yeah, i find that i typically only do it if it is something “easy” to make two of, like a healthier “spin off” if you will. I mean I just wouldnt be up to cooking 2 completely different meals with all different ingredients. That just sounds tedious, but i know people that do it and they should get major kuddos!!

  4. Yay for your puppy!!!! That is great news!

I pretty much always make the same thing for me and Brandon. But if we don’t have a ton of leftovers the next day, I’ll let him eat the leftovers and I’ll eat something pathetic, like a PB&J. 😉 It’s easier than making him something else haha!

    • that is so funny because there is usually one night a week where I’m like “okay I’m too exhausted to eat” and he’s like “thats ok I’m not that hungry…” and then we pretend we are poor college students and he will have Ramen and I’ll have a PB&J or like a grilled cheese and tomato soup haha

  5. Great news on your pooch! Our lab had to wear the cone of shame about 4 years ago when she decided to eat a ton of carpet and needed surgery 😦 I think your pooch may be smarter than ours. Still, we love her.

    • oh gosh! poor thing! glad she was ok though. labs love to chew 🙂 I think the problem is mostly that kona is kind of fat and can’t really reach where the cuts are already so having the donut just keeps her from reaching them at all! crazy dogs!
